Dr. Antonio Napoli received a Master and Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He was a visiting student at the TU Wien during his master thesis (2002); a visiting researcher at UPC (with Prof. J. Prat, 2004) and at UCL, UK (with Profs. P. Bayvel, R. Killey, Dr. S. Savory, 2005), during his PhD. In 2006, he joined Siemens. In 2007, he joined NSN, and in 2013 Coriant, where he led the data plane task within the EU FP7 IDEALIST project and coordinated several research activities and funded projects. Since 2018, he is with Infinera, where he continues R&D projects. He regularly supervises students and serves as reviewer for all main IEEE and OSA magazines in our sector. Since 2018, he has served as TPC in the S5 subcommittee at OFC. He has co-organized three workshops during OFC 2017, 2018 and a 3rd will be co-organized for OFC 2020.. Starting from 2019, he is the technical coordinator of the ETN MSCA WON (14 ESRs), the EID MSCA REAL-NET (6 ESRs), and the EID MSCA MENTOR (6 ESRs) all with Aston University. He supervised 10 PhDs and many master thesis students. He also represented Infinera within the EU Flagship Project CiViQ. His research interests include DSP, wideband optical systems, and autonomous transponders, self-aware optical networks, advanced modulation techniques. Dr. Napoli actively represents Infinera within the OIF, PLL Optical WG. Dr. Napoli is a (co)-author of 7 patents, 74 journals, 167 conference articles, 4 OIF contributions and 1 book chapter. In NESTO, he will supervise DC8, he will provide industrial co-supervision to other doctoral research fellows, and he will also co-supervise DC3 and DC10 and host their secondments.
